Aesop Rock & Blockhead – Trouble Trouble
Blockhead’s beat for “Trouble Trouble” keeps shifting under horns, strings and snares, and Aesop Rock answers with playful, bar-heavy verses about chasing a summit nobody can confirm is there. It’s the first single from “Trouble Mountain”, out 13 November on Rhymesayers.
The track is built around a fictional ski lodge, drawn from the Poconos resort commercials that ran on New York TV when both were kids. Aesop Rock’s summary: “It’s a metaphor for life, y’all!” Justin “Coro” Kaufman animated the video, which follows a skier at the resort into increasingly surreal trouble. Nearly three decades in, and the two of them still sound like they’re trying to surprise each other.
